Thermovision measurement of contact temperature in the machining zone during grinding with lamellar grinding discs

Abstract
The paper presents the results oftests ofgrinding the ST3S Steel with lamellar discs. The tests were conducted with four different grinding discs on an approphately prepared stand which was equipped with setup for contactless measurement of the contact temperaturę in the machining zonę. The grinding disc working angle (angle between the disc's working piane and the surface being ground), disc pressure against the ground surface and the degree of disc wear were changed during the tests. The disc is classified as "worn" when the abrasive on lamellas is visibly worn which corresponds to 20 minutes of disc operation. The anaiysis of recorded thermovision seąuences allowed the maximum contact temperaturę in the machining zonę to be determined.
