Kinetics of ZnMoO4·0.8H2O and α-ZnMoO4 formation at ultrasonic treatment of ZnO and MoO3 mixture

Abstract
The influence of the time ultrasonic treatment (UST) of the ZnO and MoO3 mixture (1:1) was studied. It was established that after 5 min treatment the nanodispersed ZnMoO4·0.8H2O phase begins to formed and an increase of treatment time up to 1 h leads to the obtaining of pure ZnMoO4·0.8H2O phase in nano-dimensions rod-like structure. The temperature treatment of the prepared ZnMoO4·0.8H2O compound (at 300 °C) leads to the transformation of this phase into α- ZnMoO4 phase. The obtained crystals of α-ZnMoO4 phase have nanosized rod-like structure formed from needle-like particles. The obtained results were confirmed by means of XRD, SEM, TEM and H2-TPR experiments. It was shown that those obtained by UST compounds have higher specific surface area than the samples prepared by traditional methods and have the mesoporous structure which determines the perspective of their uses in catalytic processes. As a result, the simple and environmentally friendly routes of ZnMoO4·0.8H2O and α-ZnMoO4 phases preparation were proposed in this investigation.
