Waste materials from combustion processes and mining industry - assessment of the possibility of using fly ashes in geopolymerization

Abstract
The article presents the possibilities of using waste basalt dust as one of the components for producing geopolymers. The main objective of the article is to analyse the possibilities of using new composites obtained from waste materials from the mining industry in practical applications. The paper presents a description of the materials used in the geopolymerization process, the characteristics of basalt dust, and the production process of geopolymers based on waste materials. The research methods used in the paper include particle size analysis of the aggregates used, microstructure analysis, and compressive strength testing of the samples. The results obtained suggest the possibility of using basalt meal as one of the components for the production of geopolymers. This is a very good alternative to on-site disposal of waste and the new material produced could be used as a potential building material (e.g. floor slabs).
