Abstract
The optimisation tests of sodiumpercarbonate (biocide) with the formula2Na2CO3·3H2O2, as a green oxidizing agent for biolog-ical deactivation of chicken manure, were carried out.The microbiological analysis of fresh manure whichconsisted of the enumeration of bacteria, fungi and eggsof intestinal parasites showed that the number of bacte-riaEnterobacteriaceae, i.e. 8.3 log10CFU/g, and thebacteriaE. coli, i.e. 6.96 log10CFU/g, exceeded therequired level in organic fertilizers. The Response Sur-face Methodology for three input parameters (biocideconcentration, temperature and time) on the value ofE. colibacteria was applied. The obtained values ofthe coefficient of the multiple correlationR2and theadjusted coefficientRadj2were 0.90 and 0.75, respec-tively, which indicate a good fit of the data obtainedwith the model and the experimental data. It was con-cluded that a decrease in the count of the analysedmicroorganisms followed an increase in the sodiumpercarbonate concentration, an increase in the tempera-ture and a longer time of contact of the manure samplewith the biocide. The content of bioavailable macronu-trients (P, N, Ca, Mg, K) in water extracts of freshchicken manure before and after its biological deactiva-tion was determined with the ICP-OES method. Theconcentration of phosphorous in fresh manure extractwas 310 mg/l and decreased after addition of one of thefollowing agents: 7.5 wt.% of sodium percarbonate to66.9 mg/l or 3.0 wt.% of traditional hygienizing agent,i.e. calcium hydroxide to 5.7 mg/l.. The results of theconcentration of N in chicken manure with sodiumpercarbonate was also higher than in sample with calci-um hydroxide, i.e. 1040.0 mg/l and 860.0 mg/l, respec-tively. While the addition of 2Na2CO3·3H2O2decreasedthe content of Ca, Mg and K in fresh chicken manure.
