Abstract
The gold market is one of the most vulnerable, as is the financial market. The most important role of gold currently boils down to the investment role – not only investors, but also central banks of countries reach for the royal metal. That is why it is so important to study the factors influencing gold prices in the world. The chapter focuses on selected factors related to the economy of the United States of America. A strong negative correlation has been proven between the price of the raw material and the interest rate on bonds and treasury bills. In turn, a positive relationship was observed between the price of gold and monetary policy, expressed in the form of the US M2 monetary aggregate, and the inflation rate, expressed by the US CPI index. However, no significant relationship has been revealed between the price of gold and the Dollar Index.

- Abstract in Polish
Dodatnią zależność zaobserwowano z kolei pomiędzy ceną złota a polityką monetarną (wyrażoną w postaci agregatu monetarnego M2 USA) oraz stopą inflacji, wyrażoną indeksem CPI USA.
