Abstract
Hydrogels are polymer networks capable of reversibly absorbing large amounts of water. This ability is closely related to the hydrophilic nature of the material. Water in a hydrogel is a transport medium for the diffusion of substances, and the degree of cross-linking of the polymer matrix affects the properties of their transport through the material. By changing the polymer's molecular weight between cross-links in the hydrogel network, it is possible to obtain a material which is a kind of selective molecular sieve, which is a barrier for large molecules, e.g., immunoglobulins, and which enables the diffusion of smaller molecules, e.g., glucose or insulin. Therefore, the development of analytical tools for monitoring the process of obtaining hydrogel materials is extremely attractive from the application and cognitive point of view. Therefore, FPT (Fluorescence Probe Technology) was used for this purpose, based on the use of fluorescent molecular probes. It is based on the measurement of changes in the probe's fluorescence characteristics, as they occur in the system. The FPT technology is non-destructive due to the use of fluorescent probes and provides high measurement sensitivity and short response times (< 10-8 s). Fluorescent probes for FPT applications usually react to changes in the microviscosity and/or polarity of the environment and thus act as molecular sensors to track the polymerization progress. In polymer chemistry, FPT technology is used to monitor the progress of polymerization and photopolymerization processes and control the quality of raw materials used in the production of polymers and the parameters of finished polymers. The article discusses the application of 2-amino-4,6-diphenyl-pyridine-3-carbonitrile derivative to monitor the kinetics of obtaining polymeric superabsorbents in the form of hydrogels.

- Hydrożele to sieci polimerowe zdolne do odwracalnej absorpcji dużej ilości wody. W artykule omówiono zastosowanie pochodnej 2-amino-4,6- difenylo-pirydyny-3-karbonitrylu do monitorowania kinetyki otrzymywania superabsorbentów polimerowych w postaci hydrożeli.
