Abstract
The Cracow Fortress—apart from defensive positions—also included: a system of landscaped camouflage greenery plantings, a circulation system, a telephone and telegraph network, barracks infrastructure, hospitals, storage infrastructure (munitions and food stores), repair workshops, and food processing plants. In May 1915, this complex structure received another system that was both military and industrial. This paper discussed a previously unknown episode in the fortress’s First-World-War history when it served military engineers as a testing ground for new technical solutions. The material trace of the infrastructure built at the time takes the form of a shelter that housed a transformer that serviced an electrified wire barrier. The paper describes the conditions of the construction and the structural solutions of this unique building.

- W skład Twierdzy Kraków – prócz pozycji obronnych – wchodziły również: system komponowanych nasadzeń zieleni maskującej, system komunikacji, sieć łączności telefonicznej i telegraficznej, zaplecze koszarowe, szpi- tale, składy amunicji i prowiantowe, warsztaty remon- towe, zakłady przetwórstwa żywności. W maju 1915 do tej złożonej struktury doszedł jeszcze jeden system, o charakterze zarazem militarnym i przemysłowym. W artykule przybliżono nieznany epizod z dziejów Twierdzy podczas I wojny światowej, kiedy to posłuży- ła wojskowym inżynierom za teren do testów nowych rozwiązań technicznych. Materialnym śladem zbudo- wanej wówczas infrastruktury jest zachowany schron stacji transformatorowej, obsługującej drutową zaporę elektryzowaną. Opisano warunki powstania i rozwiąza- nia konstrukcyjne tego unikatowego obiektu.
