Abstract

Chile, Lebanon and Poland are countries that are included in the EMMAT research project that focuses on e-mobility and sustainable materials and technologies in architecture. It is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej, NAWA). The programme does not strictly apply to architecture and has an interdisciplinary character, associating 37 universities from all over the world. The Cracow University of Technology coordinates the entire programme. In the field of architecture, the choice of project partners was the result of previously initiated cooperation and bilateral agreements between the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology and the Lebanese American University in Beirut, as well as between the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology and the University of Chile’s Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism. The programme was comprised of study tours of Chile, Lebanon and Poland, which included discussions, seminars and conferences. Thus, it was possible to confront the architectural ideas and experiences of scholars from three differen continents: Asia, South America and Europe. The texts included in this book were presented during a conference and a series of seminars that took place in Cracow in November 2019 and January 2020, as well as during a seminar in Lebanon that took place in March 2019.
