Comparative analysis of two types of energy storages used in rail transport
Authors:
- Magdalena Satora
Abstract
The article describes the process of energy recovery in rail transport and describes the methods of increasing its efficiency, which include the use of stationary and mobile energy storage systems. Then, the two types of energy storagse, which can be used in rail transport - lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors were compared. The analysis was based on a comparison of selected technical and economic parameters related to them, such as volume and mass energy density, volume and mass power density, durability, efficiency, self-discharge, unit investment costs or operational costs.
