- Abstract in original language
- The corrosion behaviour of thermal diffusion zinc coatings of various chemical and phase composions in chloride-containing media was studied. The corrosion rate of the delta phase, FeZn7-10, depends non-monotonically on the composition of the surface, with minimum approximately in the middle of homogeneity range of delta phase. The main crystalline product of corrosion of coatings in chloride-containing media is simonkolleite, Zn5(OH)8Cl2.H2O, doped with iron. The observed behaviour can be explained by the combined effect of small amounts of iron in the coating and the dependence of the structural parqmeters of the delta phase on the composition.
