Influence of vortex finder geometry on gas flow in a cyclone separator

Abstract
The paper presents simulation results of two-phase flow in a cyclone with variable vortex finder geometry. Simulations were carried out for five different geometries of the vortex finder. Gas inlet velocity was u=15 m/s. The main cyclone dimensions were: diameter D=0.192 m, total height H=0.745 m. Results allow to choice an optimal cyclone design in terms of dust removal efficiency and pressure drop. The methodology of cyclone CFD simulations is also described.
