Multiport equivalent circuits of turbogenerators

Abstract
Two-axis models of turbogenerators are discussed in this paper with the aim to improve modeling of rotor damping effects. According to the recommendation of IEEE Standards high-order models are commonly used for that purpose. In such models the damping elements in a rotor and the rotor body are represented by a set of short circuited windings. The equivalent schemes of high-order models for the ‘d’ and ‘q’ axes, respectively, have the form of ladder circuits with numerous parallel branches. In the paper alternative equivalent circuits are proposed in the form of multiport circuits, which can model more efficient a set of magnetically coupled windings.
