Abstract
Strengthening a weak soil foundation is a contemporary problem in engineering geology and geotechnical investigations. Such strengthening can be achieved, among others, through the use of different types of geosynthetics. They improve the mechanical parameters of the reinforced layers, increasing the load bearing capacity and extending the durability of geotechnical structures. Such solutions are commonly used to strengthen a weak subgrade in transport investments and civil engineering. This paper presents structural analysis of a weak soil reinforced with geocell system. The conducted geotechnical analyzes used an empirically verified analytical model based on the Talbot and Rankin equations. The analyzes were carried out for selected types of soils with a low bearing capacity in the ground of the railway structure. Several types of geocells were considered. The results of analyzes showed a significant effect of geometrical parameters of geocells on the load bearing capacity of the weak soil.
