Selected problems for differential equations : collective work

Abstract
In 2015, two scientific conferences related to two distinguished Kraków mathematicians, Professor Mirosław Krzyżanski and Prof. Feliks Barański, who were associated with the Cracow University of Technology and created a school of differential equations in the Cracow University of Technology. The first one came after the Second World War to Cracow from Vilnius and the second one from Lviv. These conferences were co-organized by the Cracow Branch of the Polish Mathematical Society and the Institute of Mathematics of the Cracow University of Technology. Opportunities for the organization of scientific-memorial conferences were the anniversary celebrations of the births and deaths of the mentioned professors. In May 2015, the centenary of Professor Feliks Barański's birthday (in February 2016, it passed the tenth anniversary of his death), and in December 2015, the death anniversary of Professor Mirosław Krzyżański (in October 2017 will be celebrated one hundred and tenth anniversary of his birth). Due to these circumstances, the staff of the Institute of Mathematics of the Cracow University of Technology decided to commemorate the professors Barański and Krzyżanski by publishing a special monograph dedicated to them on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Professor Barański's death and the 50th anniversary of Professor Krzyżanski's death. In the first part of the monograph, we recall the aforementioned scientific and memorial sessions and the profiles of these outstanding scholars associated with the Institute of Mathematics of the Cracow University of Technology, and in the second one we present scientific papers related to the scientific subjects of Krzyżański and Barański.

- W 2015 roku odbyły się dwie konferencje naukowe związane z dwoma wybitnymi matematykami krakowskimi Profesorem Mirosławem Krzyżańskim i Profesorem Feliksem Barańskim, którzy byli związani z Politechniką Krakowską i stworzyli szkołę równań różniczkowych cząstkowych w Politechnice Krakowskiej. Pierwszy z wymienionych przybył po II wojnie światowej do Krakowa z Wilna, a drugi ze Lwowa. Konferencje te były współorganizowane przez Oddział Krakowski Polskiego Towarzystwa Matematycznego i Instytut Matematyki Politechniki Krakowskiej. Okazjami do organizacji konferencji naukowo-wspomnieniowych były okrągłe rocznice urodzin i śmierci wspominanych profesorów. W maju 2015 roku minęła setna rocznica urodzin profesora Feliksa Barańskiego (w lutym 2016 roku minęła dziesiąta rocznica Jego śmierci), a w grudniu 2015 roku minęła pięćdziesiąta rocznica śmierci profesora Mirosława Krzyżańskiego (w październiku 2017 roku minie sto dziesiąta rocznica Jego urodzin). W związku z tymi okolicznościami pracownicy Instytutu Matematyki Politechniki Krakowskiej postanowili dodatkowo upamiętnić profesorów Barańskiego i Krzyżańskiego poprzez wydanie specjalnej monografii im dedykowanej z okazji 10 rocznicy śmierci profesora Barańskiego i 50 rocznicy śmierci profesora Krzyżańskiego. W pierwszej części monografii przypominamy wspomniane wyżej sesje naukowo-wspomnieniowe i sylwetki tych wybitnych uczonych związanych z Instytutem Matematyki Politechniki Krakowskiej, a w drugiej prezentujemy prace naukowe związane z tematyką naukową profesorów Krzyżańskiego i Barańskiego.
