Modeling and analysis of a quarter-car model with a twin-tube shock absorber

Abstract
In the following paper a model of a quarter-car model with a twin-tube shock absorber hydraulics have been proposed. The control of the oil flow between the chambers of the hydraulic damper depends both on the pressure difference and on the relative displacements of the piston. By utilizing the numerical integration methods it was possible to determine the frequency characteristics of the system. The influence of both excitation and structural parameters on the values characterizing the comfort and safety of transport have been investigated. It was shown that the application of the additional flow passage improved effectively the comfort and safety of the ride. The system response to a harmonic excitation of variable frequency have been determined.
