Application of direct metal laser sintering for manufacturing of robotic parts

Abstract
Application of Rapid Tooling technology for manufacturing of robotic parts became possible due to development of Direct Metal Laser Sintering method. The intensive progress in this method improvement was an effect of interdisciplinary cooperation of material science, physics and production engineers. DMLS opened new horizons for many fields of e.g., industrial and medical applications. Production of customized demanding robotic parts requires effective method and reliable materials. The article presents results of materials analysis used in DMLS technology, in purpose of use robot parts manufacturing. It shows the main properties of the main materials and the most important properties of DMLS technology in the context of the use for the manufacture of robot’s parts. In the article authors show the famous machines and the cost simulation of production of selected parts.
